Hawaii

June 9, 2019

After an uneventful passage with an average speed of 574 knots (in an airplane, not legacy ;-), we’re in Hawaii where we’ll spend most of the next four months.

(Maybe the Mai Tai was added with Photoshop, but it was there in spirit.)

P.S. Below is what we left in Lyttleton, New Zealand. Why yes, that is snow on the mountains behind our marina.

Snow on the hills across from Lyttelton.

Note from Cyndi:

After a short stay in Honolulu, we’re now in Kailua-Kona on the big island of Hawaii, where we’ve rented a condo for a month. It’s lovely and just a short walk to the beach or town, just what we need while we go through a re-adjustment phase as we adapt to both land life and to American life.

At times it feels like we’ve woken up from a long-term coma and have to adjust to all the changes that happened during our sleep. After some time here, we’ll visit Los Angeles. Excuse me while I go hunt down a Valium.

OK, back again – and my calm has been restored.

I think our time in Hawaii will be a big help in preparing for the shock that will be Los Angeles. If we survive that, we’ll return to Hawaii for awhile before going back to Legacy in New Zealand. We don’t know where we’ll be staying when we get back to Hawaii; that’s something we still have to sort out.
