Feeding the ???

May 24, 2015 – Baie d’Oro, New Caledonia

A pretty little gull looked like he might be interested in some chicken scraps.

Seems there are sharks about almost every time we look over the side of the boat. One, unidentified and lurking near the bottom, was pretty big! -Rich

Ile des Pins – Day 1 (New Caledonia)

May 23, 2015

Here’s a sampling from our first day here at Ile des Pins (Isle of Pines) in New Caledonia. We left at 4 AM from Baie du Prony to make the 45 mile jump in favorable winds. We had a nice ride, then almost immediately blew up the dinghy, and headed out to explore.

After an easy beach landing, we had an easy walk to a beautiful little natural, enclosed, saltwater bay (Piscine Naturelle). It wasn’t the world’s best snorkeling, but wow, did it feel good to be back in the water!

Here’s the layout below. -Rich

Did I mention that we did three – 3 – passes today!

A Note from Noumea (New Caledonia)

May 19, 2015

noumea-baguettes

We’ve been happily settled in Noumea, gorging on baguettes, croissants, cheese and wine for 5 days, and Rich has been posting the blogs he’s written on the passage from Sydney.

Now that he’s finished, we’ll resume the Fiji 2013 posts.  I just want to avoid confusion here: we’re now in New Caledonia, not Fiji.  I’m just really, really, really behind.  I’m not giving up, though! Someday I’ll get, if not caught up, hopefully less behind. –Cyndi
