I’ve been struggling with email on our Iridium Satellite phone for over a year – since we’ve had it. I’ve been using Airmail to send and receive email via Winlink but something changed and it doesn’t work anymore. I triedGlobal Marine Networks XGate email. What a total mess! Now I’m using MailASail, and while expensive (about $15 a month), it seems to be working OK – no backflips over it – just OK.
With our old Winlink solution, we haven’t been able to post pictures to our blog over the sat phone email. If you see a picture with this post (random scene from our trip down to Suva), consider the issue resolved.
By the way, we’re in Suva Fiji. I know there have been dozens of New Zealand posts here lately (Cyndi is trying to get caught up to last year’s Fiji trip), but no, we are in Fiji. We’ve been in Suva for just over a week. I got my dental work done at my favorite dentist on Monday; teeth are good to go and so are we as soon as the weather turns favorable. When it does, it’s
off to Kadavu and Fiji’s Astrolabe reef, about 40 miles south of here.
Our Fiji time this year is running short. We hope to sail to New Caledonia very early in November, then to Nelson, New Zealand on the north tip of the south island. Oh well, we’ll just have to come back next season. Rich
