On the Road Again (Fakarava, Tuamotus)

July 2, 2012

That’s it for the pictures for a while as we’re leaving tomorrow morning to sail about 40 miles to an atoll called Toau.  We’re not likely to have internet access where we can post pictures until we get to Rangiroa in a week or two.  We’ll keep you up to date though via our HAM radio email which we can use to post text messages here.

Meals Out in Rotoava (Fakarava, Tuamotus, French Polynesia)

June 30 – July 02, 2012

About a mile walk down from the dingy landing was this very pretty hotel called the White Sand Beach Resort with a great little snack bar by the water.

And tables out in the water.

That’s one way to keep cool!

Or to stay a bit drier, how about a table by the water?

The food was great – we had hamburgers and poisson cru – but the rum punch was incredible!

We also had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called Teanuinui with the crew of the Lisa Kay.  Gourmet food and French wine sitting on a deck at the water’s edge. -Rich

Back in Rotoava (North Fakarava, Tuamotus, French Polynesia)

June 29, 2012

We headed back to Rotoava at the north end of Fakarava.  We’d anchored there for two nights when we first got in to Fakarava, but it was blowing and a bit rough so we never made it ashore. Now we decided to enjoy some time here.

This is Legacy at anchor.  Notice the maga-yacht in the background.  There have been lots of them in French Polynesia.

The parking lot.  Plenty of space available!

The suburbs…

And downtown! -Rich & Cyndi
