I think in all our time in Fiji, we only knew of one boat that went up there. We’ve heard that there’s so much rain runoff on that side of the island that the water’s murky, and no one seems to know anything about venturing out to the Great Sea Reef. There are only a couple of small resorts on the north coast of the island (the city of Labasa is inland from the coast). The only thing I can say for sure about this area is that it’s way off the beaten path, and if you want to be on your own this would be the place to go. I have to wonder, with so little tourist and cruiser activity, if it’s just not as nice as the south coast. If you’re interested, there’s info about this area in Soggy Paws.
