One of the first things we did in Opua was the walk to Paihia, the town just north of us. There is a trail that runs along the hillside just above the coast, and it gave us our first look at classic New Zealand countryside.
It probably took us an hour and a half to get to Paihia, but we didn’t mind because it was a beautiful walk. We thought we might do this walk all the time, but then we got a car and that was that. Still, it’s a beautiful walk, and I’m glad we at least did it once. –Cyndi (You can click to enlarge and scroll through photos.)
