Morning in Levuka (Ovalau, Fiji)

November 1, 2013

We started our day having coffee in the cockpit while admiring our first sunny view of Levuka. The noise from the generator on shore was back, and we were getting some odors from the tuna cannery. It reminded us of cat food, but a good cat food day when one has stocked on up cans of their favorite stuff. (A bad cat food day is when you’re nearly out and have to open the desperation can of liver flavor. Cats don’t like it, and people don’t like smelling it. The mystery is why we buy it; why is there always a can of that on the shelf? This is the sort of thing one ponders in Levuka.)

After coffee and breakfast we pulled up our anchor and got ready to head off to our next destination. Meanwhile, it had gotten even sunnier. I had to wonder if we might have liked this place better if we’d arrived today instead of yesterday, but our minds were made up: we were ready to head on.–Cyndi
