This beautiful island is mountainous with lush vegetation and deep blue-green bays. Sevusevu can be done at either Sawaieke or Somosomo village. We anchored in Herald Bay just south of Sawaieke Village, then took our dinghy up there to do sevusevu the following day. The village was pretty low key, but the nice lady who served as our Turaga ni koro turned out to very pushy about wanting things from us. We left the next morning to avoid having to deal with her anymore, which was a shame because the anchorage was beautiful. We headed down to a bay with no name, the southernmost bay on the “arm” of land that hangs off the island before the large deep “armpit” bay. That, too, was a lovely anchorage. We motored south the next day to see the rest of the west side of the island, but concluded that the prettiest bays are the more northerly ones.
There is supposed to be a fantastic dive spot at Nigali Passage, but I don’t know of a dive shop on the island; so it’s probably something you need to do yourself or have someone from the village take you. There used to be a resort called the Nuku Resort, but I can’t find out anything about it and assume it’s defunct.
